The University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières requires students to undergo a 5-year program upon graduation of the CEGEP (College of General and Professional Teaching). These programs will need students to have full-time study of about 4200 hours divided into two phases or steps.

The first step is called the pre-clinical phase and it lasts for 2 years; the program include having classroom sessions on subjects like biochemistry, microbiology, physiology, anatomy, neurology, toxicology and pharmacology.
